This back to school comes loaded with news in our online store of 3D filaments. Although in principle the summer is for resting, in Winkle we have dedicated ourselves to fill our website with new colors and materials of filaments for 3D printers, do you want to know them?

New 3D Filaments at Winkle

In our constant improvement process, we have introduced new 3D filaments in our catalog, but why do everything the same when you can give it a twist?
So this time, in addition to creating new materials that will inspire you for 3D printing, we have decided to give our filaments some more cool colors. That is why we have introduced new metallic colors of PLA filaments so that the colors do not limit your 3D prints and also you will do it without harming the environment as it is one of the most environmentally friendly materials on the market.

Filaments with metallic colors

Metallic colors in 3D printing are booming and make it easy for you to create amazing figures without having to paint your parts afterwards. Do not let the colors limit your creativity when making a design with a 3D printer.

But as we have already said, we not only bring new colors but we have also introduced two new types of 3D filaments to our online store, PETG and ASA.
PETG filament is Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), which is the most used plastic worldwide, with a modifier (Glycol-modified) that makes it a more transparent material, less fragile and easier to print, making it an ideal material for 3D printing.

It is a more resistant material than ABS and easier to print, although it melts at a higher temperature. It is a filament with very good mechanical characteristics as it is less fragile and more resistant than PLA, in addition to withstand higher temperatures than the latter.

3D Printers - 3D Filament, what's new at Winkle?

On the other hand, the ASA filament is more resistant to UV rays than ABS, maintaining its mechanical properties even when exposed to the elements. This is because it is composed of spherical particles of slightly cross-linked acrylate rubber, which modify the impact, in addition this rubber provides more resistance to weathering, UV radiation, long-term heat and greater chemical resistance. This makes it an ideal material for 3D printing designs that will be exposed to the elements, as it preserves the gloss, color and mechanical properties.

Applications for different filaments

PETG has many applications for 3D printing including:

  • Outdoor parts.
  • Parts requiring elasticity.
  • Packaging: due to its high transparency and resistance to UV rays, PETG is ideal for the manufacture of packaging and containers that require high transparency and protection against UV rays.
  • Toys: due to its high strength and flexibility.
  • Mechanical parts.

ASA filament is suitable for applications such as:

  • Automotive parts that are exposed to intense sunlight (interior and exterior).
  • Prototypes in engineering and other industries.
  • Tools.
  • Electronic items (radio or computer).
  • Household items (coffee machines or microwave ovens).
  • Building components for housing (panels).
  • Decoration in the outdoor area (weather stations, sculptures or birdhouses).
  • Everyday objects for outdoor use (mailboxes, plant containers or food bowls).
  • Sports equipment (surfboards or skateboards).

PLA filament can be used for:

  • Textile: PLA is often used to create upholstery fabrics and awnings.
  • Medicine: for implants and sutures.
  • Containers and packaging: it is increasingly common to see trays, bags and bottles made from this type of material, especially in the food industry.
  • Prototyping.
  • Decorative objects and figures.
  • Large-scale pieces.
  • Architectural models.

Visit our online 3D filament store and start the course by discovering everything we have to offer so that your 3D prints have no limits. In addition, in Winkle we do not stop and we continue researching to put in your hands more variety and new 3D filaments so that your designs continue to grow.

Flexible filament for 3D printers

Flexible filament, known as TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), is a 3D printing material that stands out for its elasticity and strength. It allows the creation of objects that can be bent, stretched and compressed without breaking, making it ideal for applications such as prototyping automotive parts, phone cases, shoes and toys. TPU is resistant to chemicals, […]
