At Winkle we are aware of the need to help NGOs, which is why we create alliances to further promote their social causes and, above all, to involve society more in the different altruistic activities, such as donations.

▶︎ When we learned about the project carried out by Guillermo, CEO of Ayúdame3d, we could not resist and decided to contact them to collaborate with their cause.
Guillermo told us how one day he discovered that, by making articulated prosthetic arms, printed in avocado green filament, he could change the lives of many people. He also told us about his first trip to Kenya with a suitcase full of arms and showed us that helping is much easier than we think.

If you still don’t know what we are talking about, Ayudame3D is a Spanish entity that promotes the social value of technology through technological-social awareness programs in order to help vulnerable groups around the world.

That is why they create and deliver 3D printed arms, called trésdesis, free of charge to people with disabilities.
Their mission is to reduce the inequality they face, improving their quality of life and providing better opportunities for employment and schooling.
At Winkle we decided that we wanted to contribute our grain of sand to their cause and above all that our filament would serve to help those who need it most.
And what better than our filament for 3D printing to reach any part of the world with the help of Ayúdame3D.

Winkle filament spools for Ayudame 3D

PLA HD Filament for prosthetics

▶︎ To help this organization, Winkle sent no less than 60 spools of 3D filament to Ayúdame3d’s central offices in Madrid.

Among these spools, we included skin-colored filament such as skin-brown PLA HD, Ebony PLA HD, copper PLA HD, natural ASA, acacia PLA HD… ideal for printing hand, arm and forearm prostheses.

They will use this filament to print their 3D printers, which they classify into three types:

  • NELLY: Hand for people with a wrist. Can open and close fingers thanks to wrist movement.
  • MERY: Arm for people with an elbow. Can open and close fingers thanks to elbow movement.
  • VICKY: Arm for people without an elbow. Can open and close fingers thanks to shoulder movement. Innovation by Ayúdame3D.

And they don’t just print prosthetics, they also make pill boxes or boxes to cover chemotherapy bags, especially designed for children.
Our fluorescent and more vivid 3D filaments, such as PLA HD orange nemo, PLA HD purple winkle, PLA HD yellow and fluorescent green, PLA HD mauve, PLA HD avocado green etc…
One of the best lessons of this collaboration has been knowing that helping is easy. That it is easy and possible; and that it doesn’t take much to make it possible.
We are looking forward to seeing the pieces they print!
And what better way to do it than with the help of Ayudame3d.
