PP (Polypropylene)

Polypropylene filament or PP filament is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic filament that stands out for its mechanical strength, flexibility, durability and high impact resistance. It is ideal for lightweight, durable, flexible or waterproof 3D printing.

PP (polypropylene) filament combines lightness and low density. It is waterproof due to its hydrophobic properties and is resistant to chemicals.

PP (polypropylene) filament is beneficial for the environment, as it produces almost no waste and allows parts made of this material to be recycled several times.

Our integrated system certified to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards guarantees that our processes are aimed at achieving maximum product quality and minimum environmental impact.

We care about the planet and the health of its inhabitants; our products comply with the demanding REACH regulation, which guarantees the absence of extremely worrying substances, and we are committed to the circular economy with the reduction of packaging and the efforts of ECOEMBES for the correct recycling and reuse of the same.

Properties of Polypropylene Filament:

  • Very high chemical resistance and fatigue resistance.
  • Good layer adhesion.
  • Waterproof.
  • Available in diameters of 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm.
  • Non-toxic.
  • Low electrical conductivity; this filament can be used as an electrical insulator.
  • One of the lightest filaments on the market.
  • Good flexibility and elongation at break, it can reach 200% elasticity before breaking.
  • Withstands high and low temperatures; polypropylene is used for containers that will be used in freezers as well as microwaves.

Printing Parameters:

  • Printing temperature: 220 ºC – 250 ºC.
  • Bed temperature: 60 ºC – 80 ºC.

PP filament is very versatile. The use of this material makes it possible to manufacture resistant and cost-effective parts, capable of withstanding large blows without breaking.

The PP filament is used in many different fields:

  • It can be used to print dishwasher and microwave-safe objects. It is suitable for items in contact with food, both in industrial and domestic environments.
  • It is also used in the manufacturing of packaging and pipes, as well as in chemically aggressive environments or in the automotive industry, among many others.
  • In the automotive industry, it is used to manufacture bumpers in cars.

Applications for Polypropylene Filament

  • Containers for holding liquids, thanks to its waterproof properties.
  • Parts or packaging for microwaves or frozen items due to its thermal resistance.
  • Mechanical components.
  • As an electrical insulator.
  • Parts like hinges that require high torsional strength and can be bent repeatedly without breaking.
  • Laboratory pieces, such as containers or test tubes, due to its translucency and chemical resistance.
  • Tools and parts suitable for industry.
